The Czypu-Drom in Germany is holding kind of a „return race“ for 1/8 electric buggy, after the terrible accidents of last year (see below). The race is on the 12-13.12.2015 at Bad Oeynhausen (Germany).

According to the organisation Carsten Keller is confirmed for the race, as well as Darren Bloomfield and Jon Hazlewood, who will show off the new Agama A215E Buggy there.

The 170m long track is fully indoors with a paddock for about 70 drivers, 230V power is availible at every place. Furthermore we have installed 4 HD cameras (1 moving) not long ago, which we use to broadcast via LiveRC. Of course Timing and Scoring is availible there, too! We are using LiveTimeRC for that!

Entries are open now! (see Czypu-Drom Racing -> 4. MCT Advent Cup 2015, you can easily translate the website to english)

We will be running a special mode for this race. It is kind of a mix between ladder mains and Heart of America: Drivers will be running the qualifying rounds just as normal. After that we run ladder mains up to the semi final. According to the ranking list resulting from these finals we will seed the drivers into the A - Main, B - Main, C - Main and so on. With this mode you’ll get the best of both worlds. If you weren’t lucky in the qualifying rounds you still can work your way up in the finals (advantage ladder mains) and you’ll get a lot more driving time (advantage HoA).

Throwback: How it all started & LiPo Fire

The track started life as a small carpet track for 1/10 electric cars the owner built for his grandson, but it was open to the public from the beginning. Since there are not much of these kind of indoor tracks around at germany the track developed ever since until the owner decided to go one step further. He enlarged the whole facility and built an 1/8 scale indoor clay track.

Last year at about the same time it was time to start the first race on clay. Qualifying on saturday went down without a problem, but after the drivers arrived there the next morning they realized something terrible happened, a LiPo battery blew up which caused a huge fire (maybe you remember, there was a „Where’s Waldo“ article about it) The total damage causing an estimated 100.000€! But the owner didn’t want to close the facility. So he renewed everything needed and came up with an even better facility.
