I was turned on to this book a year or two ago called the Ultimate Speed Secrets by Ross Bentley:

Ross Bentley is a Professional race instructor, and I found this book to be very informative. Half of the book deals with driving lines, how to pick lines, how to adapt to changing conditions, and set-ups. Now the book is geared towards onroad styles of vehicles, and thus I don’t feel it applies 100% to my bread and butter, off-road racing. However there is still a lot of good information in those sections to give you a leg up in your racing regardless of class or size.

The best, and most useful part of the book for me though, was the Mental Game! Mental preparation is the area not only in racing, but in life, that the majority of us struggle with the most. This is the area of my R/C racing where i’ve struggled the most with in my career. You may have seen me share some mental tips on my Facebook page and those were all gleaned from this resource.

I encourage you to pick up this book and give it a good read. I guarantee it will help you on the race track and in life in general. I have people asking me every day how they can get faster on the track and this book is a great step to take to begin to reach your potential!
