On August 6-7, from Noon to 5 pm ET, LiveRC will work with ESPN to stream the Drone Sports Association US National Drone Racing Championships presented by GoPro live from Governors Island in New York City through the WatchESPN app and the ESPN3 online network. The two days of coverage will include qualifying and championship-awarding finals for the solo, team and wing categories, as well as the freestyle competition.

The broadcast presents a huge opportunity for the radio controlled world as a whole to be exposed to a vast, untapped audience. In addition to the racing action, viewers will learn about the pilots through interviews from pit row, as well as about the drones used in competition and the sport of drone racing itself.

Thousands of spectators are expected to attend, and they too will be able to view the broadcast on TV screens located throughout the Race Village.

LiveRC’s experience in producing live streaming racing events will be showcased throughout the event, and while the video feed will only be viewable on ESPN3 official scoring data will be available through LiveRC’s desktop and mobile scoring interface at live.liverc.com via LiveTime Scoring Engine, the official scoring software of the US National Drone Racing Championships presented by GoPro. The footage will also be edited into a one-hour show for airing on either of ESPN Network’s flagship TV channels, ESPN or ESPN2.
