Bakersfield RC launched its Facebook page late last night, signalling the impending opening of a new indoor off-road track, with an artificial, rubbery surface, in the California desert town about 110 miles north of Los Angeles. The track and hobby shop share a building with the Bakersfield Karting Experience, a 1/9-mile indoor clay oval go-kart track with a smaller, paved kart track in the infield.

The Bakersfield Karting Experience launched its Facebook page on August 21 following months of clearing paperwork with the city, according to this article from the Kern Golden Empire dated June 15:

The Bakersfield RC Facebook page also touts the facility's bar and restaurant, as well as an arcade.

The Bakersfield Karting Experience Facebook page (click here) has been quiet for the last couple of weeks, last stating a potential opening date of mid-December, but the Bakersfield RC Facebook page (click here) is advertising open practice on Saturday, Sunday and Monday with the facility's first race for Monday at 6:30 PM.

Here's a video from Bakersfield-based Motor City Throwdown's Facebook page showing off the facility as it stood on November 10:

And here's a video of a modified 2WD buggy practicing on the RC track uploaded earlier today:
