Turkey will host its first 1:10 Offroad buggy event on September 28-29, 2013. The event is called "The RatRace Weekend" and will have 1:10 2WD buggies, 1:10 4WD buggies on Saturday and 1:8 electric buggies on Sunday.

To celebrate the new 1:10 Track built in Istanbul alongside the 1:8 track at Snappy Raceway, Tom How, who moved to Istanbul 2 1/2 years ago from the UK, decided to start the track project as well as "R/C Skool" for Turkish school students.

1:10 offroad is very new to Turkey as mostly they run onroad 1:10 EP and GP, as well as 1:8 offroad EP and GP.

The all-new dirt track is made possible by AytemizHobi for the costs of building it, supplying timing system for race days, and raffle prizes as well as Team-NCRC from Northern Cyprus for helping with organization and track funds as well as raffle prizes for the weekend.

The RatRace weekend has some very healthy sponsors from Turkey and Northern Cyprus:

There will be a DirtyRats Raffle held on the weekend with prizes including:
  • Serpent Spyder SRX2 Buggy Kit Sponsored by Serpent Turkye
  • Maverick Strada XB Evo 1:10 RTR Electric Buggy Sponsored by Speedy-Models
  • LRP S10 Twister Buggy Kit Sponsored by Team-NCRC
  • Hobby Wing 2.1 90 Amp Esc Sponsored by Team-NCRC
  • Speed Passion 7.5 Comp V3 Motor Sponsored by Team-NCRC
  • 1 set of VP Pro 1:8 buggy tyres sponsored by Ciddi Amatör

Also various other prizes will be available too. Proceeds will go towards hopefully covering the track with Astro Turf by next season, the amount needed to raise is around 3,000TL (Roughly £1,000)

The first race meeting entry fee has been reduced to 30TL (Roughly £10) for all 3 classes total, not individual, this is to promote a healthy number of entrants for the first race.

Potential sponsors are urged to contact the organizers at RatRace.
