North American distribution of Thunder Tiger moves from Hobbico to HRP

Yesterday, Thunder Tiger announced that HRP Distributing was granted the exclusive rights to its product line within North America. Here’s the official release:

We are proud to announce that HRP is now the U.S.A. exclusive distributor for Thunder Tiger products

HRP Distributing was recently received our exclusive distribution rights for Thunder Tiger products in the North American market, effective January 1st, 2015. We feel this will enhance the long term diversification progression within our company. We are excited to be adding another quality extension to our new brand of TTRobotix we currently handle. For your convenience, inventories will be available from three warehouses which will expedite delivery, leverage free freight programs to over 1000 hobby dealers, ensure parts support, and employ a dedicated Thunder Tiger customer service staff. HRP will also work with Thunder Tiger in the research and development process to bring state-of-the-art products to the North American market.

Accordingly, Hobbico released the following statement today:

Hobbico is terminating distribution and support of Thunder Tiger products effective December 31, 2014. This includes discontinuation of the Thunder Tiger brand as well as the Ace RC brand.

Hobbico has a limited amount of inventory that will be available as supplies last or until the end of the year. We suggest that dealers and consumers secure what they need to cover them through the transition period. All Thunder Tiger backorders will be canceled.

Hobbico will continue to provide product support services through the end of December 2014. Hobbico will also support Thunder Tiger team members through this timeframe. Parts and kits will be available for team members as long as current supplies last until December 31, 2014. Product support inquiries after December 31, 2014 should be made to HRP distributing.

While this announcement may not mean much to RC car fans isolated from Thunder Tiger's popularity in the air market, Thunder Tiger has owned Team Associated since the two companies merged in 2005. When asked for a statement on what this agreement might mean for Team Associated's availability within the U.S., Vice President Cliff Lett simply said, "it has nothing to do with us."
