In a short few days, we will be into a new year of RC and we have already seen many people on Facebook and other social media spots post “I got sponsored.” The word sponsored is not the same as it used to be back in the day. I know times have changed and it’s more along the lines of business, but I think a lot of racers don’t realize the bigger part of being sponsored, other than the deals on RC products, is your now a representative of what company you’re with. A lot/almost all don’t also realize the representative part is bigger then the cost side of things. This means racing more, putting others first, and helping racing in your area. Also it is key to realize things didn’t happen over night. It took time for me to get my first sponsor and that first sponsor came to me. I worked hard, stayed loyal, and I was rewarded so with more sponsors and a long great time in the RC hobby. So if anything, newly sponsored drivers of 2015, use this small piece of advice to your advantage and help make our hobby great.
