LFR (Leadfinger Racing) has just released a lineup of new front stainless steel skid plates to accompany their growing lineup of rear skid plates and accessories. The new skid plates are available now for the Mugen MBX7 and TLR 8ight 3.0, with more on the way.

LFR owner Chris Schaefer says, "After the recent success of our rear stainless skids, I decided it was time to start offering protection for the front. This was due to racer demand. For example 1:8 scale racer's here in Florida run practice and racing 2-4 times a week, mostly year round. These tracks put a significant amount of ware on an 1:8 scale chassis due to the hard packed surface. LFR was asked to do something about it.

The bolt pattern is the same front to rear for the Mugen MBX6 and 7, also no bend is needed making them universal front to rear; an easy solution for this platform. The next question by racers was "can we do a front for the Losi 3.0"? After some tweaking to the design, we got it. We were able to do the bend and keep the cost down at the same time.

Racers running them on their Mugen's reported to be very pleased with the front skid. No hang ups, no changes to ride height, and said they were "very happy to get more racing out of one chassis". The new Losi 3.0 front will include longer screw hardware to accompany the length needed for the front kick up. The thickness is the same as the rear skids. This is only .090 or 3/32 " thick. About the thickness of a quarter. This amount of weight is not an issue on 1:8 scales and the skids themselves weigh just over one ounce each.

There will always be the "old" debate whether or not you should run a skid. They do not slow you down. Take a look at your chassis and you will have to decide for your self if your ready to invest $22 to save $100 in the long run. Yes, I understand you can get three plastic ones in a bag and that's great, but how much are you saving when they fall off on the track and you get a weekend out of one.

I'm telling you this because I also have a budget as a racer. Skids are nothing new. This design lasts, it works, and It is made 100% in the U.S. by the racer, for the racer. I promise you will not be disappointed!"
