Yoshii dominated both buggy divisions at Northwest Indoor Series season opener

Team Associated takes 3 at the Northwest Indoor Series

At the opening round of the 2015-2016 Northwest Indoor Series (NIS) hosted by Tacoma R/C Raceway in Tacoma, WA, Team Associated set the pace early with a double TQ by Harley Yoshii in Mod 2WD and 4WD Buggy, and new recruit Shane Borden took TQ in Pro Stock Buggy. With the triple A Mains set, it was time to get the show started.

In A1 of Mod 2WD, Harley took off with his Reedy-powered B5M and never looked back, pulling away from the rest of the field lap after lap. Once again in Mod 4WD Harley did what he knew best and led from tone to tone. In Pro Stock 2WD, Shane decided to replicate Harley's wins by taking off and leading every single lap.

In A2, Harley again checked out in 4WD from the start and never looked back. Following that, Shane went on to lead the whole race in Pro Stock 2WD, both wrapping up the overall early, forcing the rest of the field to battle for second. In 2WD, Harley did not have luck on his side, finishing with a third-place finish for A2.

Mod 2WD A3 took off and with an uncharacteristic mistake out of Harley, so Ryan Matesa took the lead, making Harley charge hard the rest of the race, but ending up in second. It came down to a tie breaker with Harley taking the overall by 0.8 seconds.

Team Associated came out swinging in Round 1 of the NIS and set the pace for the rest of the season with Harley Yoshii's double TQ and wins in Mod 2WD and 4WD, and Shane Borden's TQ and win in Pro Stock Buggy and a second in 13.5 Short course.
