Last weekend, Northwest Hobbies in Albany, Oregon hosted the inaugural Northwest Astro Invitational. The event drew many of the fastest drivers from the Pacific Northwest, as well as other racers like 2011 ROAR National Champion Dustin Evans.
The 2WD "Invitational" portion of the race pitted 40 racers (which were open to anyone interested in entering) against one another in a Reedy Race-style format consisting of eight heads-up rounds of racing. Evans prevailed over local racers Tanner Day and Robert Bakoczy to win the overall title.
2WD Invitational:
The 4WD class ran a typical qualifying and main event schedule, with TLR's Dustin Evans earning the Top Qualifier spot after each driver's two best rounds of four were used to seed the finals. Evans won the triple A-Main overall to take his second class win of the weekend.
