Last weekend, sixteen-year-old Italian Kyosho driver Riccardo Berton beat many of the world’s best buggy racers to win a star-studded Montpellier GP in France. Rainy weather and tough track conditions claimed 2012 world champ Robert Batlle in the semifinals, along with contenders Jerome Aigoin, Alessandro Stocco and Marco Baruffolo.
In the hour-long final, Berton got off to an early lead before Renaud Savoya - in the Frenchman’s TLR debut - moved out front. A flameout for Savoya put Berton out front for good with Savoya’s countryman Yannick Aigoin the only driver on the lead lap at the end of the race. Another French racer, Rayan Medjoubi outpaced the TLR buggy of Jerome Sartel and the still-fairly-new Kyosho buggy of British driver Jack Embling.
