T4 Wins At Texas Electric On-Road Series R4

Race report by Chris Adams

The 2016 Texas Electric On-road Series has come to an end. The final race was held in San Antonio on a large flat asphalt surface. From the start, I was able to get my T4 16 to navigate the high speed track pretty well after arriving early race morning. I changed from the standard rear end to the ARS and put a 2.7 rear spring on the back. This gave me the steering and forward traction I was looking for on the hair pins.

After the three rounds of qualifying, I had secured the TQ and the important front starting position. The main was a little more exciting than the qualifiers. Everyone went faster than in the qualifiers. The competition was able to keep up for the first 3 min until the 100 degree heat cause traction issues. At that point I was able to gap second by 5 seconds and win my fourth race of the series.

The 17.5 class was much closer as points leader Guillaume Herve only needed to finish second to lock up the title. Able to finish within a couple seconds in the qualifiers to the eventual TQ, it looked like second was all wrapped up. The main was a different story as Herve dropped to the middle of the pack after rolling his Xray. After a couple minutes, he was able make a crazy pass through the high speed chicane on both 2nd and 3rd place to get back to second where he would eventually finish claiming his second Texas EOS 17.5 title.

USGT proved to be one of the most exciting classes of the day, as well as the largest class of the day with an A,B, and C main. The heads-up race start in qualifying created for some intense action packed heats. The driver that managed to have the cleanest run was likely to take the TQ. Billy Land would put down the only 19 lap run in the class, locking in that TQ. The main would see Land cruise to victory, followed by Jose Moreno in second and Wayne Stuntz with a close 3rd, 1 second behind Moreno. Jose Moreno earned the USGT title with his podium finish.
