The 2016 EFRA 1/5-Scale European Championships were held in Bologna, Italy last weekend and culminated in a 30-minute final during which the track conditions changed drastically. Top qualifier Patrick Folman made several mistakes early in the race and gave way to Lamberto Collari, who also spun out in the waning minutes of the race. Giovanni Verbrugghe capitalized on Collari’s mistake and crossed the finish line ahead of Collari and Folman to take the win. Here’s what he said on Facebook after earning the title:
“When I was a kid and started to begin RC Racing my dream was to become European Champion one day! Well... Today was THE day, won the EC 2016 in Bologna! I can't believe it!! Many thanks to all of my sponsors, supporters, friends, teammates, and of course big thanks to my amazing dad!”
