Anderson's double victory highlighted Southern VTA Nationals

XRAY T4, X1 & X12 win at 2016 Southern VTA Nationals, US

The 2016 Southern VTA Nationals took place at Thunder RC in Nashville, TN. The race has become a yearly event held a few weeks before the IIC and is used for a warm up race by many. This year was no exception as the house was full of people and fast racers!! There were over 110 entries at this years event.

 Practice started on Friday morning with the pits full and lots of people getting track time on the new CRC FT2 black carpet. Everyone found out quickly that tire glue and aluminum chassis were needed in all class!! In TC the fast guys were Michael Skeen, Matthew Lyons, myself and a few other guys quickly got up to speed. In 12th scale 13.5 my X12'17 was very good from the start and stayed that way all weekend. In VTA Cody Armes and Myron Kinnard were up front as usual. In The USGT Class Matt Lyons was the man to beat.  One qualifying started the same guys were up front. I was able to TQ every round of TC and 12th scale. Both my T4'17 and X12'17 were both awesome all weekend and stayed super consistent with very minor changes during the race. Cody took the TQ in the VTA class and Matt Lyons was able to TQ the USGT class.

During the mains in 12th scale I got a good start and cruised to an easy win in by a couple of laps. In the TC main myself and Matt Lyons got off to a good start to fight for the lead. I made a mistake in the chicane and Matt took the lead for a couple of laps before a small mistake in front of the drivers stand let me back by and from there I was able to pull away and take the win in the main. XRAY had 5 of the 10 cars in the A main. In VTA Cody Armes took his first win at the Southern Nats. In USGT Matt Lyons was able to take and easy win. In the Junior VTA class. The XRAY T4'16 of Sean Jackson Junior was able to TQ and take the win for his first big win of his racing career. In F1 the X1 of Mark Miller was able to TQ and win the main by a small margin over some very close competition. In the F1 class 8 of the 11 entries were XRAY X1 cars!
