Race report from Miguel Matias (via Facebook):

The Portuguese national championship for 1/8-scale nitro off-road wrapped up last weekend at the Pista de Vilela track in Paredes.

Miguel Matias, driving a privateer Mugen Seiki MBX7R buggy, scored the overall TQ. The final was held in rainy and muddy conditions, but Matias held on for the victory ahead of Goncalo de Melo and Carlos Duraes to win his fourteenth national title.

Here’s the race report Matias posted to Facebook:

"This weekend at the last race of the Portuguese Nationals I managed to TQ and win the race securing my 14th 1/8 national title.

I'm very happy with this result especially at a race where the weather didn't help at all with a 45 minute main under rain.

For the whole race my package worked flawlessly, specially my Maxima engine in it's first race under these conditions and it worked spectacularly, my KO PROPO electronics and JVD clutch reliable as always.

A big thank you to my family, my friends and my mechanics...without them nothing of this would be possible.

For this race also a special thank you to all the drivers that had to marshall a 45 minute main under the rain and over the mud."
