Last weekend was the second running of the JConcepts Extreme Carpet Initiative (ECI X2) held in Spring Hill, Tennessee.  The event, hosted by Matthew Stevens at the only indoor carpet track in Tennessee, sold out within 30 days with 160 entries representing several states.

J.R. Mitch from Florida and Erich Reichert from Conneticuit mixed it up with fast locals including Caleb Stevens, Jeremy Daniels, and Dirk Anderson.

Popular classes were 2wd buggy, 4wd buggy, 13.5 buggy, and Vintage with each welcoming over 30 entries and some hard nose close battles.  Action was intense round 1 with Jeremy Daniels taking TQ in 4wd buggy and JR Mitch TQ’ing 2wd Buggy and Stadium Truck.  Round 2 saw JR Mitch overtaking the 4wd Buggy TQ by 3 seconds and wrapping up TQ in 2wd buggy and Stadium Truck despite hard charges by Daniels and Stevens.

After rocket-round qualifying, the mains did not disappoint as JR and Jeremy battled closely in 2wd buggy and 4wd buggy.  As the top 2 battled with each other and lap traffic, Stevens closed up from the 3 spot to make it a 3-way battle.  JR Mitch kicked in the afterburners and both 2nd and 3rd caught a few “bad breaks” as JR went on to back up his TQ and win all three classes of 2wd, 4wd buggy, and Stadium Truck.

"The loyal following of racers must also be recognized as Extreme averages over 100 entries per race day.  The ECI coincides with the track’s anniversary.  This year, a racer’s family made an outstanding “trophy cake” that rivaled the competition on the track and some would say a slice was much sweeter than a podium finish.  Special thanks to JConcepts, TLR, Traxxas, and other sponsors who made this event a great success and Extreme Hobby Shop for an awesome family-friendly racing venue." - Ed Rakus (ECI Race Director)
