Cody King R/C Race Report:

Cody King has won expert buggy and expert truggy, and Tim Long has won the 40+ class for a Kyosho sweep at JBRL round 1. Furthermore, there were 6 Kyosho buggies in the expert final, and 5 Kyosho Truggies in the expert truggy final, for a very strong showing from the Red Army. The race was held at Thunder Alley RC Raceway in Beaumont California in the USA. This track was the site of multiple ROAR Nationals, and one of the more popular circuits in the United States. There were 250 entries for this one day race, and thanks to expert handling of the program by Jimmy Babcock, the race was completed by 10pm local time.

The completely fresh track design was done by Levi Jackson of Sik Track Designs (Rob Jackson’s son) and it got rave reviews. The over/under cross over section was brilliant as it launched the cars up in the air over the speeding traffic below. The layout was smooth, fast and flowing with lap times in the low to mid 30 second range for most drivers. The track was watered every couple races and it kept the surface smooth and easy on the tires. As the sun went down and temps cooled off, there was plenty of moisture in the track and watering wasn’t necessary. The surface was fair all day.

Cody’s statement:
“Both classes were tough because all the guys are fast, stepping up their game. In truggy I really battled with Drake and ended up with the win. I feel really good with the truck lately, because my pace was good at Nitro Challenge, then I won PNB, and now this. So it’s all good with the truggy. In buggy I really had a tough time adjusting to the buggy after driving the truggy. I stuffed a pipe early and had to work my way back toward the front. The end of the race was a battle with fellow A Main Hobbies/Kyosho driver Dylan Rodriguez. Dylan was fast, but after catching up to him and trying to get around him a few times, I was able to finally get around him for the win. In both finals I ran Proline M3 Holeshots, although for buggy I might have run M4 if I could do it over again. Maybe it would have been a little easier to drive. I really want to thank Proline for the support at the track. Also I want to thank all my sponsors, Kyosho, Reds Racing, Byron Fuels, KO Propo, A Main Hobbies, Protek RC, Speed Passion, Stickit1, Lunsford, and LiveRC.. Special shout out to Reds with the unreal engine perfomance. The engine in my buggy is the first engine we have had from the beginning. It’s pushing 5 gallons now and running really well. See you all in Vegas for Silver State.”
