MWES Race Report:

Round 4 of the MWES was held on Saturday August 24th at Thunder Road Hobbies last weekend. As expected the new owner Kevin Bronner and his crew built a great layout that was both fast and challenging. The crew kept the track as moist as possible with the high temps to keep traction as consistent as possible. To keep things fun we decided to change the program from 3 qualifiers to 4 using the best 2 qual points to set up the mains.
In the Rookie Class Aaron Burton took the TQ and win with several laps over 2nd and 3rd. John Loveridge finished 2nd and Justin Simmons held the last spot for 3rd.
Open Stadium Truck Cory Yoder got TQ and ran wire to wire for the win over his competitor Tom Knapper for the win.
2WD Blinky Buggy, Tanner Barnhouse earned TQ and battled Jared Wiggins the entire 8 min main. Swapping positions a few times Jared would take the win only by 0.491 of a second. Bernie Grothus claimed the 3rd spot on the podium.
4WD OPEN SC Robert Henderson received TQ honors. Robert ran wire to wire never looking back. Ryan Klemme worked his way from 7th on the poll up to 2nd place on the podium and Steve Johnson took 3rd. All 3 would finish on the same lap!
2WD Open SC none other than Cush would dominate all day taking TQ. However his toughest competitor would not give up so easily in the main. Mason Perillo made his move half way in the main making a run for the top podium spot. With only 4 laps to go Cush made his move and secured 1st place on the podium. Mason received 2nd place, and J Dub followed for 3rd place.
2WD Blinky SC Cory Yoder received the TQ honors. The top 4 in this main battled it out till the end. Jonny 5 and Cory Yoder swapped positions for the top 2 spots several times during the main. The last lap was the deciding factor in this race. Both crossing the finish line just before the master clock expired giving them one last lap. Cory had the lead until the last turn when Jonny 5 passes him for the win by .411 seconds. Tom Knapper and Kevin Kretsinger battled for the final podium spot. Changing positions several times ultimately Tom Knapper would secure the final place on the podium.
2WD OPEN Buggy Cush received his 2nd TQ of the day. Once again Mason Perillo and Cush battled for top spot honors in the 8 min main. On the second lap in the race Mason pulled out in the lead and held it for several minutes. Half way in Cush made his move and held the lead till the end. Mason received 2nd place and Kevin Bronner would finish on the same lap for 3rd.
We hope to see everyone at the 5th round and last chance for top points going into the finals September 21st at Cheese City Extreme RC.
