PROTOform Press Release:

The WDRA Summer Nationals were held August 23 & 24 at The Bakery R/C Raceway, Bob Baker’s beautifully prepared D-shaped dirt oval near Hilton, NY. Since being announced, the buzz was high circling the event. Helped along by great weather conditions, the entry count surged to over 80 cars.

The Bakery is a large D-shaped oval; smooth and high bite or “hammer down” in dirt terms. This makes it a very aero-sensitive track. In fact, The Bakery is fast enough that it’s one of the few places when running late models where a following car can “take the air off” a car ahead and cause it to spin without ever touching! Needless to say, the body plays a key role in success there.

In the late model class, it was Kyle Inman taking TQ, followed by Tom Rogers. When the tone went off to start the 55 lap A-main, Inman dashed out front with Matt Steffenhagen quickly moving from the 5th position to run second. After a mishap mid way, Steffenhagen would battle back through the field and eventually overtake Rogers for second. When the race was over, it was Inman, Steffenhagen, and Rogers on the podium. All three racers chose the PROTOform Cyclone 9.5 Late Model Body.

Overall, the Cyclone 9.5 provided great balance at such a high speed track. All three front finishers were nearly wide-open around the track with the Cyclone providing the right amount of grip on both ends of the car. Rogers’ Cyclone also took top honors in the concours competition. So what more is there to say? The Cyclone handles well and looks great doing it!
