Turkey hosts it's first ever 1:10 offroad competition in Istanbul

A few short months ago we first we received word of an event called the "RatRace Offroad Weekend" set to be held in Istanbul, Turkey. This event took place last weekend, making history, as it was the first competition offroad R/C race to be held in the country!

Organizer, Tom How, has shared with us the following race report from a successful weekend!

The first ever 1:10 competition for offroad was held at Snappy Raceway in Istanbul, Turkey as well as a 1:8 EP race on the Sunday known as the RatRace Offroad Weekend.

The weekend was a great success and for many drivers this was their first experience of 1:10 racing, they were very impressive and I think everybody learned a lot from the weekend.

There will be a club created specifically now for 1:10 offroad buggies and SCT for next year. The RatRaffle was a great success and along with entry fees we raised half the money needed for astro turf for the track.

2WD Race
A great race and heavy learning curve for most drivers, there was a lot of action in the qualifying and the races, the results were as follows for top 3:

1st Tolga Yılmaz TeamC

2nd Onur Ulusoy Team Durango

3rd Tom How Kyosho

4WD Race
Was a faster pace than 2wd and people really enjoyed the racing which was a close affair with the last race being the decider between Kerem and Kayhan, both having equal points going into the last round.

1st Kerem Duzgit Team Xray

2nd Kayhan Torpil Team Associated

3rd Yasin Yenidunya Team Durango

1:8 Race
We also held a 1:8 race on the Sunday and had some superb racing especially between Bora Deniz Aksüt and Cengiz Gökbulut, they were swapping the lead in many laps and although suffering with some technical problems Deniz won the event by a small margin.
