Race Report by PROTOform:

Team PROTOform made a snow-filled trip to Pennsylvania last weekend for the 23rd running of the U.S. Open Wheel Dirt Oval Championships at Bumps & Jumps RC Speedway. Over 400 entries each year make it the largest dirt oval race on the planet, and PROTOform was a proud sponsor of this event for the first time.

It was just one year ago that Dale and Eric Epp made the trip to Etters, PA with tape measure and camera in hand – on a crash course to try to figure out this very unique genre of R/C racing. In the year since, the Cyclone 9.5 Late Model and its wider sibling, the Cyclone 10.0, have undoubtedly made a splash in the Dirt Oval Late Model scene.

The racing action was intense throughout the 5-day event. Cyclone bodies were used to TQ all four Late Model classes, with PROTOform team driver Eric Salvas taking the overall win in 4WD Late Model and Jim Friescapturing the Modified Late Model title. Congrats to Eric & Jim!

Not only does the Cyclone perform on the track, but it also looks great. Real-life NASCAR Nationwide Championship-winning Crew Chief Danny Stockman took home the concours award for his DSI Industries/Rooster Juice Cyclone 9.5.

After the mains, the crew from Customworks and Bumps & Jumps , including the one and only Scotty Ernst, put on a fantastic banquet to hand out the trophies in a laid back atmosphere with great food and some laughs. Overall a fantastic event!
