Race Report by Tom How:

Serdar Aytemiz from Aytemihobi and Tom How from Ratracers and RC Skool, along with Ahmet Öztürk (student racer) set up the track carpet ready to finish Saturday morning.

It was very hard work to do this and I was very glad for the help we got on Saturday morning, we finished the track just in time to start the racing so it was a close thing.

Saturday Race Day: RC Skool Race
I was far too busy with making sure the track and every bit of help was given to my students that I decided not to race and gave my car to Mustaf Alp to drive. It was the right decision to make as the students needed the help, I would also like to give a great big thanks to Huseyin Emir from Speedy-Models HPI Turkey for his assistance with the student racers, we teamed up and did all the necessary work to the students cars and gave them the guiding hand they needed all day.

RC Skool students had their first experience racing alongside pro drivers from Turkey and they all made the most of it by asking a lot of advice and talking a lot to the experienced drivers, it was a great opportunity for them to watch and learn from experienced racers.

They had a great day and a lot of them improved their driving.

The results were as follows:
1st Ahmet Öztürk
2nd Ekin Direnç Bağcı
3rd Alp Eren Kaya

Saturday Race Day: 4WD 1/10th
There were a lot of new drivers having a taste for the new class so a big learning curve was ahead of some, the racing was great and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves.

The results were as follows:
1st Mustafa Alp
2nd Kerem Düzgit
3rd Serkan Tümer

Sunday Race Day:
We had learned a lot from Saturdays racing and we needed to sort the track markings out as they kept getting moved too muchby the cars, Umut Tukay from Team-NCRC, Team Xray Turkey arrived Sunday morning with some brackets and screws to secure the track better, so we all set to work to do this for the big days racing, the 2WD class had a lot of entries from experienced offroad and onroad Turkish drivers so it was very competitive from start to finish.

The days racing was very exciting and each group of drivers improved all day so it was a great uknown to see who would win the day.

The result was a great days racing for everyone involved and I believe everybody enjoyed the race day.

The results were as follows:
1st Deniz Aksüt Serpent Spyder SRX2
2nd Alain Sarafyan Team Losi 22
3rd Mustafa Alp Serpent Spyder SRX2

Next Race: January 18th 2014

We all learned a lot, drivers and organisers alike from our first indoor carpet race, the next race is on January 18th 2014 so hopefully more will join us and the experience will be an even better one.

I would like to finish up by saying a big thank you to the following people and companies.
  • Serdar Aytemiz and Aytemizhobi
  • Umut Turkay and Team-NCRC
  • Huseyin Emir and Speedy-Models
  • Fen Bilimleri School
and last but not least ALL the drivers that spent their hard earned money and bought new cars from scratch and made the day such an enjoyable first experience. Roll on the next round!
