Race Report by NOSRAM:

Schumacher driver Tom Cockerill drives to victory in the 2WD buggy class at Northern Europe’s highly competitive year opener!

Powered by the high-performing NOSRAM package for competition racing, UK driver Tom Cockerill was the first racer who was able to break the dominance of Jörn Neumann in the DHI Cup offroad events. Jörn had won both the 2WD and 4WD titles in the previous years.

Tom worked hard in qualifying to take a good position in the starting grid. In the end, only Sweden’s Oskar Levin was faster than him. Starting from second, just ahead of title holder Jörn Neumann, Tom was in the thick of things regarding the fight for the victory.

The Schumacher driver gave another proof of his top shape by taking A1 with almost a second ahead of TQ Oskar Levin. At the beginning of A2, Oskar tried to drive away from Tom and Jörn, but he wanted too much resulting in an early driving mistake that cost him the lead. Tom Cockerill took over the top position and drove to victory despite the hard pressure from Jörn Neumann.

While the new champion decided to sit out A3, Jörn and Oskar battled it out for the overall second place – with the better end for the German. So, the final ranking saw Tom Cockerill on top, ahead of Jörn Neumann in second and Oskar Levin in third.
