Race report from Team Orion:
The 2014 Spektrum Challenge was held November 7th-9th at Trackside Hobbies & Raceway just outside of Milwaukee, WI. Team Orion would arrive at this years event with 3 of their top drivers:
- 4-Time IFMAR World Champion, Ryan Cavalieri
- Current 2wd Mod Buggy, Mod Truck, & 4x4 Mod SC ROAR National Champion, Dakotah Phend
- Former 2wd Mod Buggy ROAR National Champion Dustin Evans
Wednesday, November 5th: Open Practice
Thursday, November 6th: Controlled Practice
Friday, November 7th: 2 Rounds of Qualifying
Saturday, November 8th: 2 Rounds of Qualifying
Sunday, November 9th: Main Events Day
Team Orion Factory Driver Ryan Cavalieri went onto take the overall TQ in the premier 2wd Modified Buggy class. Cavalieri then went onto Win A-Mains #1 and #2 to take home his 1st Championship of the weekend! Team Orion's Dustin Evans would finish 2nd overall and AE's Kody Numedahl would round out the podium in 3rd.
Team Orion Factory Driver Ryan Cavalieri would secure his 2nd overall TQ by his impressive driving during qualifying in the 4wd Modified Buggy class. Cavalieri would suffer some bad luck in A-Main #1 that would have him finish a disappointing 5th. RC then turned his luck around and took the Wins in A-Main #2 and #3 to take home his 2nd Championship of the weekend! Team Orion's Dustin Evans would finish 2nd overall with Team Orion's Dakotah Phend 3rd to make it a Team Orion podium sweep!
Team Orion Factory Driver Ryan Cavalieri would complete the perfect sweep of TQ's by taking the overall TQ in the 2wd Modified Short Course class. The A-Main Event was set for one single 7-Minute race. Cavalieri would lead every lap and take the Win by a considerable margin being the only driver to get by for the 27th lap! This would complete the perfect sweep of TQ'ing & Winning all 3 Modified Classes he raced! Team Orion's Dustin Evans would finish 2nd overall and AE's Chad Due would round out the podium in 3rd.
Team Orion Factory Driver Dakotah Phend would dominate qualifying to take the overall TQ in the 4x4 Modified Short Course class! This A-Main Event was also set for one single 7-Minute race. Phend would go onto lead every lap and cruise home to a comfortable 13-second lead for the Win! Tekno's Randy Cathcart would finish 2nd and TLR's Matt Sunderlage would round out the podium in 3rd.
