With a track layout that has proved much more challenging than last year, the second round of 2WD racing was marked by the mistakes of some of the race’s top drivers, who relinquished key opportunities to score valuable points and let other drivers take advantage instead. The round finished with a wild third heat that came down to the final lap!

Jared Tebo got the holeshot from the front row and Jörn Neumann got up to second on the first lap after starting on the second row, with third-row starter Carson Wernimont up to third. Tebo crashed on the sweeping left-hander in the infield at the halfway mark, which gave Neumann an opportunity to pass on the inside. Three laps later the two drivers tangled after landing the triple, and Tebo let Neumann resume the lead - only for the German driver to crash in the same spot Tebo did. Jared won ahead of Neumann and Wernimont.

Spencer Rivkin led from the start ahead of Dustin Evans, who started on the inside of row two but quickly passed Daniel Kobbevik. Meanwhile, Ryan Maifield shot up from the outside of row three and was in fourth by the second corner, then third by the end of lap one. Just after the one-minute mark, Evans went wide in the right-hand 180 in front of the drivers stand and Maifield went to the inside. At 1:50, Rivkin crashed in the same spot where Maifield passed Evans, and both TLR teammates went by for first and second. Maifield crashed on the left side of the course with just over a minute to go, dropping him to third behind Evans and Rivkin.

Just when the spectators thought the second round couldn’t get much crazier, the third race went off. Cody King got the holeshot ahead of round one winner Steven Hartson, but bobbled in the second corner of lap two and let Hartson by. Hartson made the same mistake through the step downs on lap three, putting King back into the lead. Hartson and teammate Ryan Cavalieri, who started tenth, tried to claw their way up through the field. Cavalieri got caught up in the mid-pack melee and never recovered, finishing seventh. Hartson got back to second by the halfway mark, and the pack stacked up as several drivers made mistakes, moving Tessmann, Ronnefalk, and Due into the top five. King and Due both crashed on the final lap, which gave Hartson an easy win and allowed Tessmann to jump from fourth to second ahead of King.
