Last week we brought you the unfortunate news of TecnoPower engines closing their doors. The man behind the TecnoPower operation is Rody Roem, most well-known for his years of racing, world championship wins, and his work at RB Engines. Roem has played a large part in the R/C industry over the years, and while his TecnoPower operation is coming to an end, we wanted to know more.

Rody was nice enough to sit down for a few a minutes and give us a LiveRC exclusive interview about his future.

LRC:       You have a background in R/C engines, are you hoping to find a new

opportunity with a current engine manufacturer?

RODY:   Not only Model Racing Engines are a big passion of me but also everything

mechanical around it. If another opportunity with another engine

manufacturer comes up, then I would be more then happy to continue and add

my experiences and develop new idea's

LRC:       Is there any possibility of you returning to RB?

RODY:   No, I do not think it is a good idea to return into the past. RB has been a

big part of my life and managed very well without me.

LRC:       You have been working closely with Sergio Rossi and Giuliano Giubelli,

what are their future plans?

RODY:   Giulliano is one of the owners of Tecnomeccanica and his responsability is

inside Tecnomeccanica. Tecnomeccanica is a company who is making all kinds

of mechanical parts from drawing and is our main supplier. TecnoPower is a

very small company compared to Tecnomeccanica. Sergio has been working

inside of Tecnomeccanica and was available for TecnoPower when needed, he

will continue to work for Tecnomeccanica.

LRC:       As a former world champion racer, have you considered moving and taking

the role of helping an existing company develop their cars and team?

RODY:   For now it is a little early, it can be a welcome challenge and not new for

me, however my best quality and experience is on the engine level today. If

a company is interested in my services then I am always open for discussion.

LRC:       We are very sorry to hear the news, and hope that the future has great

things for you! Is there anything you would like to say?

RODY:   The end of one thing can be something new for the future! Setting up

TecnoPower and a complete engine project in a very short time, a new country

for me with a new language and habits to learn has been a great experience.

I would like to thank my partners and also appologize to all who believed in

this project which technically has been a succes but not commercially.

Today this industry is changing a lot and I hope to stay a part of this and

share my experiences with all who is interested.

We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Rody, and we wish him all the best!
