Hidden in the small town of El Centro, located in the South Eastern corner of California, Ricochet R/C raceway is the newest indoor track to come to the California market. Not a far trip from San Diego (2 hours east), and almost as close to Phoenix (3 hours west) this beautiful facility is definitely one of the few destination-worthy tracks.
The building itself is a retired Navy test building whose rafters are lined with water sprinklers should there be an issue; however nowadays it houses a R/C raceway, Along with a full service restaurant (and bar!) there are several giant rentable rooms, 1980s-era arcade as well as a massive trampoline room.
The concept of the track was first thought of by Mark Gaddis who has been a R/C enthusiast for over 40 years. After having several outdoor tracks over the years, he saw the vision to have a carpet track mated to these other businesses.
This town of 64,000 people has already embraced their new local track, and average over 50 entries a week. The local newspaper caught word of their first big race called the Carpet Classic, and was on hand to report on the action with full page column about the race.
Here are the particulars on the track:
- 80 ft. x 60 ft. carpet track
- Commercial Office Carpet from Lowes
- Full service Restaurant
- 100+ parking spots available
- LiveTime and AMB timing system with broadcasting on LiveRC
- Excellent activities for the kids (including indoor basketball courts)
- Fun-family atmosphere with small parts counter attached
