As you may have noticed lately there has been an enormous amount of tire sponsor shuffling and change-ups for 2012. One of the most noticeable and talked about changes at the track is the TLR team. In the past the TLR team has run only Losi Tires,but for 2012 we have seen majority of the team sign with outside tire manufacturers. The “talk at the track” has been what is going on with Losi tires? Is there no future for Losi’s tire development? Why all the changes?
While talking with our friend, TLR’s Todd Hodge, we simply asked him why the team was switching and if there would be no more Losi tires. This is what he said…
“For 2012 we are allowing our team drivers to source outside tire sponsors. They can only run tires and no bodies, wings, wheels, and other items that our fine tire partners produce. Losi is not getting out of the tire business and we will continue to develop tires in the future but for right now we want to focus onthe chassis first and foremost allowing TLR to continue being a premium race brand.”
We were relieved to hear that Losi was not stepping out of the tire industry, and welook forward to seeing what the team has in store for the 2012 season.
