HPI has just released their all-new gasoline 1/8 engine at the Nuremburg Toy Fair, and it got us thinking about the future of R/C racing. While we haven’t seen the actual engine run, we would assume it to be almost impossible for a gasoline engine to have the response and feel of a nitro engine. HOWEVER...with tough economic times all over the world, the nitro racing scene has dropped off in participants as it can be so expensive to do competitively. Upon the release of the HPI gasoline engines, will more manufacturers release their own gas powered engines? Will this spark a new interest and form of racing, example being seperate Nitro and Gasoline classes?

If the price of the new HPI gasoline engine is within the price range of a high performance nitro engine, provides ¾ or more of the performance in a nitro engine, but only costs $3.98 per gallon to race (as opposed to $30+ per gallon), would it be worth it?

We want to know your thoughts and opinions! Would you be willing to try out a gasoline powered engine in your 1/8 scale? Let us know your thoughts and opinions below!!!
