JConcepts Hazard SCT Wheel Dish
$5.99

In the full size short course and offroad racing scene, factory teams have used beadlock wheels with protective covers to keep dirt out and look good doing it. JConcepts has brought the concept of the "bolt on wheel dish" to R/C short course racing with their new Hazard SCT Wheel Dishes. Using your standard JC Hazard SC wheel, these simply fit in place over the wheel and axle and are held in place by the wheel nut. They are easy to take on and off for cleaning, and prevent your wheel from packing up with dirt.

Using a white Hazard wheel and black dish, we were able to give our truck a unique white beadlock appearance. These little guys can be transferred from wheel to wheel and don't wear out when your tires do, so one set of dishes will have your Hazard SC wheels covered for a long time to come!

Pros:
  • Easy bolt on style and "custom look" to your wheels
  • Durable and will last through multiple sets of wheels and tires
  • Keeps dirt and grime out of the crevices of your wheels
  • Nifty re-sealable bag that can be re-used to store and carry your dishes from race to race
Cons:
  • Can be slightly difficult to keep in place when mounting
Beacon Rating: 5/5

Ogio Rig 9800 Gear Bag
$249.99

When it comes to hauling your R/C stuff to and from the track there are a wide variety of ways to do so. Some choose giant plastic containers, some choose R/C specific hauler bags, some choose duffle bags, some choose dump trucks, and the list goes on and on. We decided to try out the popular choice of many travelling racers, which is using a motocross inspired gear bag. Our choice of bag was the Ogio Rig 9800 Gear Bag. This bag costs a pretty penny with a price tag of $250, but provides more than enough space to pack in everything necessary (key word necessary) for a race weekend.

Inside the bag we were able to fit our short course truck, three sets of tires, parts box, radio bag, pit mat, toolbox, and charger. Outside the bag, the various compartments and zip-up pockets allowed us to carry our manuals and setup sheets, tire washer tub, charger cords/leads, and a box of Twizzlers.

Our bag fully stocked is HEAVY, but is still convenient and easy to use thanks to the heavy duty wheels and pull-out handle on the bag. For security, the bag's zippers line up and allow you to lock it up using a travel lock.

Overall we highly recommend the Ogio Rig 9800 Gear Bag to any serious racer whether you are travelling or racing locally, as it provides an easy and stylish way to transport your goods. Unfortunately you might have to sell your 2wd buggy just to buy it.

Pros:
  • Plenty of cargo space for nearly everything you will need at the track (car and radio included)
  • Heavy duty design holds up well to the "gentle" handling at the airport
  • Heavy duty wheels and handle make transporting your heavy bag very easy
  • Multiple zip-up compartments inside and outside the bag for further storage
  • If you purchase a bright colored version (such as the Nuclear one we did), you will be the hit of the airport baggage claim
Cons:
  • At $250, it costs more for the hauling bag than it does the car inside it.
