At this past weekend's Shortcourse Showdown event, my father Homer suited up and entered the Traxxas Stock Spec Slash class with a brand new RTR Slash right out of the box. While he used the stock radio, stock truck, and stock setup, we upgraded him to a LiPo battery. The LiPo of choice for the weekend was the Dynamite Speedpack Gold 7.4V 5300mAh 2S 30C pack pre-soldered Traxxas connectors.
The battery was more than enough to keep his stock Slash going strong for the entire race, as the voltage only dropped to 8.13V after an entire run. The pack provided plenty of punch and consistent power throughout without giving a "faded" feel towards the end of the race. We put the pack to the durability test as during open practice he would run the battery to low voltage cut-off, immediately charge it, and run again. The Dynamite Speedpack Gold passed the "Homer durability test" with ease.
This pack is a great upgrade for Traxxas users looking to plug and play, as there is no soldering or connector changes necessary. A LiPo compatible charger is required, and is obviously not included. The only downfall to this pack, is while it features big capacity, it is also big in size. It will fit the Traxxas Slash, BUT is a tight squeeze in height to get the battery strap pushed down and clipped in place.
Pros:
- Quality race battery, ready to charge and use out of the box.
- Stayed consistently balanced after a dozen plus runs.
- Greatly improves run time, punch, and speed over the stock NiMH Traxxas battery included.
Cons:- Its tall size makes fitting it in the Traxxas Slash a little bit of work, flexing the battery brace enough to clip it in place.

GHEA Ride Height Gauge

Setting ride height is a crucial part of setting up any R/C car. Having an accurate, easy to use, and affordable ride height gauge is a must. The new GHEA ride height gauge is all of that and more. This little guy is a simple and small design, making it easy to check and set ride height without trying to manuever gauges around the a-arms, bumpers, etc. Bottomed out the GHEA gauge sits a precise 20mm high. Each turn (click) out is 1mm higher. Therefore you simply click it up or down to whatever your desired ride height may be, and your good to go!
We found the GHEA ride height gauge is easier to use, more accurate, and far less awkward to transport than traditional gauges on the market.
Two versions are available including a 20mm-30mm model, and a 15mm-20mm model.

- Not much bigger than a NiMH battery cell making it easy to transport and carry.
- Made up of 7075-T6 aluminum.
- Precision designed for perfect measurement each time.
Cons:
- Everybody at the track wants to use it.
