THURSDAY - TRUGGY QUALIFYING:

[10:22am] - Truggy qualifying is under way with the +40 Truggy class kicking off a long day of qualifying ahead! Meanwhile back in the pits we have spotted several new items that will be on display on the track tomorrow during buggy qualifying. First up is an all-new body on the Hot Bodies D8 machine of Ty Tessmann. This is a new Pro-Line prototype body that features a far less aggressive cab forward design than we are used to seeing in the past year or two.

Next up is a fresh new buggy tire from AKA. The new tire is called the "Catapult". This tire features a unique "C" shaped tread pattern in which looked good in practice yesterday in the hands of AKA team drivers.

[11:01am] - While we are not allowed to see what is under the bodies of these machines, we were able to get just close enough to snap a photos of the all-new RC8 prototype buggies that are being raced by Ryan Maifield and Ryan Cavalieri this weekend. Obviously details are limited with such a form fitted body hiding "the goods" underneath, but some noticeable differences is the overall width of the car appears much narrower than before, new shock towers, and front end setup.

[3:05pm] - Round 1 of Truggy and E-Buggy qualifying is in the books! In Pro Truck, it would be the young guns back once again showing their speed for 2014. Ty Tessmann set the overall TQ time with Dakotah Phend following up less than 1-second behind him. An impressive run by Drew Moller would put him 3rd overall. A rough round for the "The Ryans" would put Maifield 10th overall, and Cavalieri out of the top 12. Young gun and local racer, Tanner Stees, put it all together for an impressive top 10 finish as well.

In Pro E-Buggy, Dakotah Phend would put the TLR machine out front setting a TQ time 7-seconds ahead of Kyosho's Jared Tebo. Moller would continue his impressive morning of qualifying by putting a 3rd place for the round in E-Buggy as well.

Below is your Top 12 drivers from 1:8 Pro Truck and 1:8 Pro E-Buggy after Round 1:

[1:26am] After a VERY long day of qualifying Hot Bodies driver, Ty Tessmann, is crowned the Pro Truck overall TQ! Tessmann would set TQ in Round 1, only to be beaten by Kyosho's Jared Tebo in Round 2 by .93 seconds for the round TQ. In Round 3, both drivers looked strong, however, Tessmann would turn up the heat taking yet another TQ .7 seconds ahead of Dakotah Phend, and 3 seconds over Jared Tebo. The double will have Tessmann starting out front with JT starting second, and Dakotah Phend starting third.

Drew Moller would pilot his way to a 4th overall in qualifying and was all smiles, however, one driver who was less than satisfied was Team Associated's Ryan Cavalieri. The Reedy Race champion finds himself starting 19th overall (7th in the B-Main) on Main Day (a very unfamiliar starting spot for RC).

In 1:8 Pro E-Buggy it was a back and forth battle for the top spot all-day long. Dakotah Phend would come out of the gate swinging with a Round 1 TQ, however, would struggle in Round 2 allowing the Durango of Ryan Lutz to take the top spot for the Round. Both drivers having one TQ looked to be the most probable to take the overall TQ, but disaster would strike Lutz ending his race at the 3-minute mark in Round 3. Dakotah Phend looked strong, but was a little off pace in the final round, allowing Drew Moller to take Round 3. When the points were tallied, it would be the consistency of Drew Moller, and his final round TQ, that would secure the overall TQ spot with Lutz and Ronnefalk starting second and third.

FRIDAY - BUGGY QUALIFYING:

[3:11PM] Round 1 of qualifying is in the books, and what a turn of events it was! Mike Truhe would set early TQ time with his new Serpent buggy in Pro Buggy, becoming the first driver to hit a 10-lap run. In the final heat of Pro Buggy, Ryan Cavalieri with his prototype RC8 buggy looked to be on his A-game, but a mistake in the rhythm section would bury him in the field. Dakotah Phend would take the top spot mid-way, but did not appear to be close to the Truhe's TQ run. Phend turned up the heat with only minutes to go jumping onto a 10 lap run and new TQ time! When the dust settled and the race finished, he would capture the overall TQ for the round by 3 seconds over Truhe's time with David Ronnefalk taking third overall for the round.

A disappointing round for several hitters including drivers such as Jared Tebo who suffered a 19th for the round, and Ryan Lutz a 14th for the round (both of which looked more than capable of running up front).

Overall qualifying results after Round 1:

[7:57PM] Round 2 of qualifying is in the books! As the hot shots took the track it would Taylor Petersen who would set early TQ time, but the following heat would bring on the heat. Starting off it looked as though Carson Wernimont and Austin Blair were going to leave the field behind. A few mistakes by Blair would drop him back in the pack allowing Wernimont to take the lead. Round 1 TQ, Dakotah Phend, slowly crept his way into the top 3, and once again went on the attack in the final few minutes. Phend would rocket his way to an impressive TQ for the round, and securing the overall Pro 1:8 Buggy TQ spot heading into Sunday's main events.

While they missed out on TQ, Wernimont and Petersen still put together an impressive top 5 finish, as well Jared Tebo who struggled in Round 1. With the way things are sitting, the only driver 100% secure is Dakotah Phend. Round 3 will be CRUCIAL for majority of the top 20 as it is still anyone's A-Main to make or break.

[9:14PM] Qual points have been tallied up after two rounds of qualifying and below is a list of your current top 12. Take note of the DNC hopefuls that aren't struggling and/or not within the top 12 heading into Round 3...it's going to be an all out BRAWL.

SATURDAY - E-BUGGY AND TRUGGY MAIN DAY

A very long and exciting day of racing is in the books from the 2014 Dirt Nitro Challenge! Starting off with 1:8 Pro E-Buggy, the Kyosho young gun David Ronnefalk would be the man to beat. TQ, Drew Moller, handed the lead to Ronnefalk on lap three, and David never looked back. Behind him Moller set into a smooth and consistent pace in second with Dakotah Phend in third. On lap 11, Phend would make the pass into second, but moments later allowed Moller to take the position back again. David Ronnefalk would cruise to a 10-second victory with Moller and Phend finishing out the podium.

Finishing out the night was Pro 1:8 Truck (truggy). The Canadian, Ty Tessmann, would start on the pole position after securing the overall TQ spot in qualifying. The tone sounded with Ty leading the pack, and he would hold that position for 45 minutes taking a wire-to-wire win! Although he started 9th on the grid, Barry Pettit would take advantage of others mistakes early on and jump into the second place spot by lap 15. He too would lock in and finish out the race relatively unchallenged for second. The battle behind him for the final podium spot would rage on between Kyosho's Jared Tebo and TLR's Dakotah Phend. Tebo looked strong, but didn't have enough to steal third from Phend. Dakotah piloted his 8IGHT 3.0 to third only one second ahead of Tebo in fourth.

SUNDAY - BUGGY MAINS

A great day of racing to finish out the 2014 Dirt Nitro Challenge is in the books! The final race of the night was none other than the Pro 1:8 Buggy class. As the race got underway the field was plagued with flame-outs, and breakage. David Ronnefalk looked to be the fastest on the track, but after three flame outs would find himself fighting back from the back of the pack multiple times. Tebo would be hit with multiple flame-outs, and a broken front end would DNF Maifield as well. One driver who had no trouble keeping his car running, and running fast, was the Canadian Ty Tessmann. Coming off yesterday's Pro 1:8 Truck win, he powered his way to the front and never looked back. Several drivers including Dakotah Phend made a valiant effort to catch the Hot Bodies of Tessmann, but couldn't quite make it happen. Tessmann wrapped up the win, Phend second, and Ronnefalk fought back to third!
