Nitro races are won and lost on the racetrack, but a solid strategy and ultra-fast pit stops can mean the difference between winning or going home as the first loser. Pit stops started getting serious when squeezable bottles were replaced with fuel guns designed to dump a more specific amount of fuel into the tank in a shorter amount of time, and varying designs have been employed over the years with different degrees of success. During the first round of practice on Saturday, we spotted Leann Tessmann squeezing a new fuel stick from Pro-Line Racing to fill up her son's buggy.

Fuel is added to the gun through the top, as usual, with a spring-loaded flip cap keeping the unit sealed. The lever that starts the fuel flow is squeezed against the body of the gun, and there's a second piece of silver-anodized aluminum that hooks over the top of the index finger to ensure the unit isn't dropped into pit lane. The cylinder of the gun looks longer and narrower than other 125cc-150cc fuel guns, and the anodized cone tip looks like its opening is covered with a small screen - perhaps to deflect the fuel as it enters the tank in an effort to reduce bubbles.
