The crazy rainstorm last night disappeared as quickly as it arrived, and when the Naxos World Track facility started filling up this morning the racers and media alike were astonished to see how well the track had held up.
The stucco-like track surface looked great in most areas, with only a few instances of standing water. Much of the moisture seems to have been absorbed by the infield grass, as there are drainage cutouts in many of the corners to allow the water to flow away from the racing surface.
When the racers and media arrived, the track crew was finishing up their general repairs that included sweeping the water from the track, reattaching pipes, and checking the banners hanging around the track surface.
Still, there were a few soggy spots.
