Ryan Cavalieri joins Jared Tebo in bringing the new Mx brand of engines and fuel to the Dirt Nitro Challenge for the brand’s first big off-road race in the U.S. According to Ryan and his mechanic, father Louis, they’ve been running the O.S.-based engines for 4-5 weeks now and are very impressed with the power and fuel mileage, but happiest about their reliability and ease of tuning.

The bright blue engine is bolted to a revised version of the RC8B2 prototype that Cavalieri drove to a second-place finish at the IFMAR World Championships in Messina, Italy last fall. Though the car is nearing production-spec and could see shelves as early as the first half of 2015, AE team manager Brent Thielke asked us politely not to take body-off photos, but he did explain some updates to the version that his drivers are piloting here in Arizona. While testing over the last few weeks, new team addition Carson Wernimont (who finished just behind Cavalieri at the Worlds) spearheaded the effort to try a longer chassis and modified rear brace to experiment with wheelbase and flex options.
