The 2019 ROAR Off-Road Fuel Nationals is in the books, and as racers return home from a summer sizzler in Texas, we recap all of the action that took place.

RACE RECAP:

1/8 Nitro Truck National Championship
Winner: Ryan Maifield

Mugen Seiki's Ryan Maifield set the pace in qualifying by taking the overall TQ spot, but not without pressure from former teammate Team Associated's Spencer Rivkin. As the A-Main got under way it was very clear that Maifield and Rivkin were going to be at the top of the field. Maifield would lead majority of the laps, but a pit strategy that cut out one stop for Rivkin kept him popping in and out of the running - at one point leading nearly 10 laps of the race mid-way through. As the final pit stops were made and the tone sounded to finish the race the duo was less than one second apart as they dragged raced to the line after 45-minutes! Ryan Maifield would take the win .8 seconds ahead of Rivkin. While the focus was on the battle for the win, XRAY's Ty Tessmann, who had been running third, was under fire from Nemo Racing's Ryan Lutz. On lap 88 of 89, Lutz would make his move to secure the final podium spot in third, and dropping Tessmann to fourth. In his first 1/8 Nitro National Championship appearance, 1/10-scale specialist Broc Champlin would bring home an impressive fifth overall.

1/8 Nitro Buggy National Championship
Winner: Spencer Rivkin

TLR's Dakotah Phend earned his way directly into the Buggy Final after taking TQ in qualifying. Truck National Champion, Ryan Maifield, was missing from the Final after mechanical troubles while leading the Semi ended his chances at another title for the weekend. As the race got under way Phend led the way for the first few laps, but a mistake would drop him to sixth early on. A flameout later would drop him to ninth overall. While trouble struck the TQ, SWORKz driver Ryan Cavalieri jumped to the lead from fourth on the grid. Cavalieri would lead nearly 40 laps before a hard charging Spencer Rivkin made his move to take the number one spot. After taking the lead, Rivkin never looked back to secure his second Buggy National Championship win at the Thornhill Racing Circuit (once in 2016 and again in 2019). Ryan Cavalieri cruised to an impressive second overall, and Ryan Lutz would once again steal the final podium spot from Ty Tessmann with only 10 laps remaining. Tessmann, after a mishap in the pits called for an extra pit stop, finished fourth overall, and the 2017 champ Jared Tebo finishing fifth.
