2022 JConcepts Summer Oval Nationals Race Report

This past weekend JConcepts brought back the JC Oval Nationals with the 2022 Summer Edition. 140 entries came out in support of the event at Cheese City Extreme in Monroe, Wisconsin. Check out a little bit about the awesome event as well as a tire guide and podium pictures.

Cheese City Extreme and Discount Hobbies America has a fully stocked hobby shop and indoor and outdoor oval tracks, an indoor off-road track in the winter, and an outdoor 1/8th scale and 1/5th scale track. JConcepts has a large part of the wall with tires for every track.

Friday practice kicked off at noon and went until 5pm. The team then participated in the Friday night club race which consisted of a single heat and the main event. Over 90 entries joined in on the action.

Immediately from the start of practice racers were on slicks and the brand new Smoothie 2.0 tire was the tire to have in the Silver compound. With the Smoothie 2.0’s just being released, drivers that didn’t yet have them were finding success with sanded-down Ellipse in the Silver compound.

As racing continued, drivers stayed on slicks all the way until the end. JConcepts racers had the advantage on the extremely grippy but also bumpy surface with the RM2 inserts taking away a little bit of the aggressiveness of the rubber.
