Report by Max Gotzl
The Xray Racing Series Slovakia Round 1 took a place last weekend in the amazing Hudy Arena. We had free practice on Friday as always, but this time we had two rounds of timed practice in groups in the evening, which was a nice refresh and allowed us to compare our times with others in the same group and condition. I played a little bit with the setup of both my XB2 and XB4 and headed comfortably into Saturday.
Martin Bayer came on the top in Q1 of 2wd, but then it was me setting faster time in Q2, which secured me the overall TQ for the 2WD portion of the race. I also topped the Q3 while trying something different on the setup of my car. Micha Widmaier lined up 2nd and Martin Bayer 3rd overall on the A-main grid. Micha Widmaier topped the Q1 of 4WD, but later on it was Matus Benetin who TQed Q2 and Q3 to secure the overall TQ in front of 2nd Martin Bayer and 3rd Micha, I qualified in 4th.
A1 of 2WD didn’t go as planned for me, as I flipped on the first lap and wasn’t able to recover, which allowed Micha to take the win in front of Martin. Nevertheless I managed to keep my lead in A2 and had great fights with Martin during the main, in the end I took the win in front of Martin and Zsolt Bajusz. A3 was the one to decide the winner, I again had great fights with Martin during the final, but this time he managed to take the win and we came to a tie-break. I had the faster overall time from A2, which rewarded me the overall victory! Martin finished 2nd and Micha 3rd.
2WD results:
In 4WD it was all about Matus, who did all he could to take the win in A1 and A2, and secure the overall win early on! The only two who were able to challenge him in the finals were me and Martin, but it wasn’t enough for his superb performance this weekend. Martin took the overall 2nd place and I finished 3rd overall!
Both my cars were working very well and I am very happy about the result of mine and the rest of the team! I think it was a good start into the new carpet season and now we just have to focus on keeping on improving. Both setups of the XB2 and XB4 are already posted on the Xray Setup forum.
