Modified Touring by Awesomatix USA
Some of the best drivers in the world where in attendance at the US Indoor Champs and they have been putting on a show for everyone in the modified classes. TQ Keven Hebert, Sam Isaacs and Kemp Anderson were lightening fast all weekend and were all in contention to take the win. They took it to another level in the A-Main as the three went one more lap than the rest of the field. Hebert took full advantage of his TQ spot as he got the hole shot at the start tone. Like a freight train the front runners worked their way through traffic with only seconds separating them with none refusing to make a mistake. They would finish like they started with Hebert taking the win, Isaacs finishing second and Anderson rounding out the podium.

1/12th Modified by Schumacher
Top Qualifier Sam Isaacs would strike first in the A1 final taking the win. Both Isaacs and Kemp Anderson had been doing battle in all four qualifying rounds with Isaacs narrowly getting the top spot on the grid. With two more A-Mains remaining, Isaacs was looking to seal the deal with another win and fast. Things don’t always go the way you plan as sometimes the place to be is behind the front runners to maybe take advantage of a possible crash or incident. This was the exact spot fourth qualifier Stuart Mason was in as he would move himself to the front to take the A2. With the overall win still in the air, the A3 started with Sam Isaacs once again jumping to the front, but a crash would put him out of contention mid way through the race. This left the door wide open for second qualifier Kemp Anderson and third qualifier Donny Lia. The racing couldn’t be any closer with more than half the race remaining and only millimeters separating the two. It would all come down to the last lap as Lia would pull off an impossible pass in the last turn before the finish line to take the A3 win! The overall finishing order would be Donny Lia taking the win, Stuart Mason second and Sam Isaacs claiming third.

Stock Touring by RC America
If you want to see what dominating a class looks like, check out the Stock Touring class. Throughout the week and weekend the name Mike Gee is all you saw at the top of the charts and his talented driving earned him the TQ spot rightfully so. His success would carry on into the Triple A-Main finals and he would edge out Eric Anderson in the A1 final and Adam Izsay in the A2 final for the over all win. With the final two podium spots up for grabs, it was an all out battle in the A3 main for them. When the dust had settled, it would come down to tie-breakers to sort out the final finishing order. Izsay would earn the overall second place with Anderson rounding out the top three.

25.5 Touring by Donathan RC
The 25.5 Touring Car class is always one of the biggest classes year after year and this year the number of entries earned it the Triple A-Main treatment. This class was Gordie Tam’s to lose as he would score the TQ spot and with all the smack talking amongst the group off the track, his peers were definitely aiming to knock him off the top. Tam was not sorry to disappoint his opponents as he would put the smack down in the A1 and A2 finals winning them and taking the over all win. With the rest of the podium spots waiting to be claimed, Manny Flores would finish in the overall second and Aiden Hensdill rounding out the top three.

GT12 Rubber Tire
For the GT12 class only coming into existence a few years ago at the US Indoor Champs to becoming one of the biggest classes is truly amazing! This year with the open rubber tire option, drivers were given the chance to choose what kind of grip level they wanted. Matte Flake would lead off the start of the Triple A-Main format on mains day, but unfortunately wouldn’t have the best runs to keep him in that top spot. The overall win was really up for grabs and it would be Brandon Showler who would take it with a 8th A1 finish along with a 2nd A2 and 1st A3 finishes respectively. Dana Bailes would take the overall 2nd with Greg Anthony rounding out the top three.

World GTR by CRC
Tom Firsching was poised to take the overall win in the World GTR after scoring the TQ spot in the competitive class. Things were looking good at the start of the race as Firsching had the lead and increasing the gap with authority. Disaster would strike though as a traction roll sent Firsching onto his roof and capitalizing would be RC legend Josh Cyrul taking the lead. Firsching would fight back and would actually catch Cyrul with the seconds ending in the 5-minute race. Cyrul would take the win with Firsching finishing 1-second back! Greg Anthony would round out the top three.

17.5 1/12th Rubber Tire Exhibition by A-Main
Gravity RC’s new tire is a game changer while keeping in the spirt of the US Indoor Champs with keeping things inexpensive while running 1/12th cars. Offering tons of grip from the first run, it would be Mike Gee leading the pack from the TQ spot. With a field that had some heavy hitters in it, Gee had his work cut out for him not only to take the overall win, but holding off the traffic behind him at the same time. Holding the lead up until the half way point, Gee would clip a corner dot knocking him down mid pack. Capitalizing on Gee’s misfortune Knapp would take over the lead and hold it all the way to the finish for the win. Josh Cyrul would work his way up from fourth to take the over all second spot with Gee finishing in third.

1/12th Super Stock by Menards
The speed that was being ran in the 1/12th Super Stock class was close to the pace of the Modified and as you can imagine, these drivers gave us a good show. Donny Lia had secured the TQ spot, but as racing goes, nothing is really secure. Lia got a good start at the sound of the tone, he held the lead for the first half of the race. With some fender rubbing happening midway through the race dropped Lia down to mid pack, but the bigger story was John Dickson making his way to the lead from the 7th spot on the grid. Lia decided he wasn’t going down like this and laid down some of the fastest laps of the race. When time had expired, Donny Lia pulled off the impossible and would go on to win the race by one lap more than second place finisher John Dickson. Max Kuenning would round out the top three.

1/12th Masters 50+ by Cry Baby Racing
The 1/12th Masters 50+ class was stacked with talent and with the class full down to the D-Main, it would be Wayne Gerber scoring the coveted TQ spot. At the sound of the tone, second qualifer Chuck Lonergan said not so fast as he stayed right on Gerber’s bumper. With identical amounts of pace, the two were evenly matched and Lonergan would manage to pull of a pass midway though the 8-minute race. It would be a mad dash to the finish like and at the end of the race, Lonergan would beat Gerber by only 4-tenths of a second! Eli Ezrow would claim the third spot on the podium.

1/12th Stock by Hobbywing
Joe Trandell set the bar high in the 1/12th Stock class when he set the TQ convincely. Battling Andrew Knapp all weekend, Trandell would get a super clean start while Knapp in the second starting position clipped a couple corner dots which knocked him down to 7th after lap 1. While all that was going on, seventh qualifier Tom Firsching was making some power moves working his way to the front and into the second spot. Not letting some bobbles define his race, Knapp showed why he was second qualifier and worked his way up the field and would take back his original position and would finish the race in second. Trandell would claim the win with Firsching rounding out the top three.

Front Wheel Drive by Team Zombie
Every one is the Front Wheel Drive class are good friends off the track, but when racing they are fierce competitors! The TQ spot belonged to Adam Izsay and he proved to be in a league of his own holding the number one spot from beginning to end of the main. The battle for the remaining podium spots were between Manny Flores and Gordie Tam who were seconds apart for the entire duration of the race. Consistent driving kept the gap the same between the two as Tam would come out on top taking the overall second spot. Flores would have to settle for the over all third. Good job guys!

Formula 1 by Tamiya
The always popular Formula 1 class had some great action all weekend long at the US Indoor Champs. Being the only open wheel cars in the event, the element of danger was always a factor with such close racing. A familiar name appeared at the head of the pack with the legend himself, Josh Cyrul claiming the TQ spot. With the pack behind on similar pace, anything was possible and at the sound of the tone the entire field would get a clean start. Right off the bat fourth qualifier Jeff Dayger started making moves. Being a threat all weekend and within reach of the TQ spot, his perfect run would come to fruition grabbing the lead half way through the race. Dayger would extend his lead to over seven seconds with Cyrul in tow. The finishing order would see Dayger taking the win, Cyrul second and Carlo Roman rounding out the top three.

Vintage Trans Am by Dumper Speed Shop
Rumored to have started at Trackside Hobbies, the Vintage Trans Am class was originally throwing a vintage body on an old TC3 and go have fun. Many years later the competitiveness of this class has gotten serious, seriously fun! Lead by TQ Dante Woodard, hungry group behind him was ready to eat him up for the win. With a good start, Woodard lost a couple spots at the start of the race, but held a top three position. Having an even better start was third qualifier Cory Craig who would immediately grabbed the lead and wouldn’t look back. Woodard would move on back into and claim the second postion.
