One common misconception in R/C car racing is that you MUST buy the latest, greatest, and high dollar competition racing kit just to get involved in racing. Serious racers often detour newcomers from purchasing simple and budget friendly ready-to-run vehicles, and push them more towards the complex, more expensive, and competition ready race kits that they use.
For years I've wanted to experiment by taking a budget friendly RTR buggy, putting it up against the high-end competition kits, upgrading it along the way, and working to see if it is possible to be a competitive local racer using a RTR platform. While I've been sitting on the couch thinking about the idea, AMain Hobbies has been at the track doing it!
The AMain Hobbies crew starts out with a Kyosho MP9 ReadySet 1/8 Nitro Buggy straight from the box, and over the course of a multi-part video series turns it into a competition ready race machine - which is put to the test at Silver Dollar R/C Raceway!
