While many of us are sitting on our computers or smart phones right now reading the latest news and gossip in the R/C world, overseas there are brave men and women fighting for our country and keeping it a safer place.

AMainHobbies.com shared a story that we found to be very interesting, inspiring, and most of all made us smile.

God bless all of our brave military and their families!

A couple of months ago we received a phone call from Afghanistan, from a gentleman named PFC Jesse Covington. He explained how he and his fellow soldiers, like many who must travel among the booby trapped roads connecting the military camps of the Middle East, use their personal RC cars to detect upcoming mines and other dangers by driving ahead of the convoy. When he called, his Traxxas Rustler VXL was beat up and worn out from weeks of hard use; after all, hobby-grade RC cars aren’t really suited for withstanding IED blasts. Unsure of where his next camp would be, or when he’d have phone or Internet service, Covington called a couple of weeks later to give us an update on where to ship our care package. When the goodies arrived, Covington and his platoon sent us these photos in appreciation and will be flying the A Main Hobbies banner in their camp.

For a company like ours, whose 70+ employees spend their shifts helping our customers having fun with their favorite hobbies, photos like these serve as a welcome reminder that these “toys” can mean so much more. A Main Hobbies would like to thank PFC Jesse Covington and the entire U.S. military for their service, allowing us to do what we do best.
