Main Photo: Robert Battle signs with Mugen Spanish nitro off-road master Robert Battle has signed on with Mugen-Seiki for two years.

Battle left much of the R/C world guessing where he'd be up until the last minute. Strong signs pointed to him signing with Team Durango within the last couple weeks, but he ultimately ended up choosing Mugen.

Some have speculated that the move to Mugen and not Durango was directly the result of fellow European Renaud Savoya signing with the German car manufacturer, and that Battle preferred being a "No. 1" guy.

Regardless of the motivation behind his decision, Battle will certainly be motivated to continue his outstanding performances not only in Spain, but all over the world. LiveRC wishes Robert the best of luck!

Here is the official announcement from Mugen Seiki Europe's site:

Mugen Seiki Europe is proud to announce the signing of Robert Battle, European Champion as well as multiple Spanish Champion. Robert will be competing the next 2 years running an MBX6 and being involved in testing and improving our future products in close co-operating with our designers in Japan.

"Since I started in competitive RC racing, Mugen has always been one of the top RC manufacturers I admired, so I’m extremely proud to be able to say I now represent Mugen. I'd like to thank all the staff from Mugen Seiki and MSE that believe in me. I look forward to and hope to win many titles with them as well as collaborate in the development of new cars and products. I’m excited to start this new season; my main objectives will be to win the European Championships for a second time and continue to defend my Spanish championship title. I have signed for two years and during these two seasons we will work hard in preparation for the 2012 Worlds and to win for Mugen. I'd also like to give thanks to all the companies I have represented during the last years. Finally, I want to say that 'the track is open, I’m ready to race!'

See you on the track"
