It is a well known fact that Horizon Hobby is an R/C industry leader, and have been for years. This year, however, Horizon seems to be expanding their team of designers, engineers, and racing background as yet another long-time R/C racer has joined their elite team. News today of John Schultz (formerly with HPI Racing) has been released as he has officially left HPI Racing and is teaming up with Horizon Hobby. Most would assume in their 1/5 scale department, as that was his major role at HPI.
In the past months we have seen Horizon bring on board more and more race experienced staff including Scott Hughes (formerly with Axial, and Pro-Line), Brian Miller (co-founder of Method R/C), Steve and Brad O'Donnell (founders of O'Donnell Fuel), and now John Schultz.
With their latest additions combined with existing members of the team including multi-time champion Adam Drake, it will be interesting to see what is next for Horizon Hobby. It seems as though Horizon Hobby is taking a more serious approach to race inspired design and engineering on all levels, and we look forward to seeing what is to come in the near future.
