The BRCA has sent out a notice to all participating drivers regarding the tire additive (also known as traction compound) use in their Rallycross series (1/8 nitro buggy). The notice strictly prohibits the use in any of the BRCA National rounds. Many major races around the world both on and offroad are beginning to ban the use of such products for a variety of reasons.

Could this be the beginning of the end for tire additives in the hobby?

BRCA OFFICIAL NOTICE:

Dear Competitors,

In response to a query we have received ahead of the forthcoming National meetings, the BRCA Rallycross Committee would like to clarify the use of tyre additives in the sport.

The use of such additives is not welcome, and not something that has any place in our sport.

To that extent, any use of such additives by competitors would be regarded as unsportsmanlike behaviour, and treated as such.

The penalty for unsportsmanlike behaviour is per Rule 15[h] (ie disqualification from a meeting).

Disqualification carries a penalty of loss of meeting points, and 3 Championship warnings for the series total, which in turn leads to a loss of 10 Championship points (in addition to the loss of meeting points).

We would urge all competitors to bear this in mind when entering and attending the National series events in 2012 - having a fair and equitable sport is something to be proud of.

Many thanks in advance,
BRCA Rallycross Committee.
