As it turns out, the fake webpage fun earlier today wasn’t just a case of a web developer getting bored and spending too much time on RCTech. At 5 PM CT (so 3 PM on the West Coast, where Team Associated’s headquarters are located), two photos posted to the brand’s Facebook page show off what we believe to be an all-new car - though there's no confirmation yet of what the name might be.
The post included a quote from champion NFL coach Vince Lombardi, saying ”Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can reach excellence." The Facebook post also included the hashtags #SLAPrototype #The4Wheel
Back in April, Team Associated followed a similar strategy of leaking sneak peeks at what turned out to be the B6 and B6D by showing off prototypes made by a 3D-printing process called “stereolithography” or “SLA.” The teasers continued for a week before official details about the buggies were published.
The two photos published today show the front steering knuckle and a rear hub, but it’s difficult to see much else. The prototype is outfitted with shiny blue hardware, like the drive hexes, and you can see the steering knuckle's detachable steering arm as well as the hub inserts for the rear camber link mounts.
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!
