The 30th annual Pro-Line Cactus Classic kicked off Friday morning with 29 heats of competition spread over 12 different divisions. All drivers completed their first two of four qualifying runs, which will seed Sunday's main events, and many took differing approaches to tackling the tacky surface and high-speed course at SRS Raceway in Phoenix, AZ.

2WD World Champions Spencer Rivkin and Jared Tebo split TQ's in the 2WD category, with Tebo leading Rivkin by one point with both rounds counting. The pair also TQ'd both rounds of 4WD, though with poor back-up runs it's Japanese Yokomo driver Kaito Kodera who leads the points with 9 (2-7). Brian Kinwald sits atop 2WD Short Course by one point after swapping TQ runs with reigning national champion teammate Ryan Cavalieri, who swept both rounds of Stadium Truck to secure at least a tie for the overall.
