Team Durango Race Report:

Team Durango drivers Craig Collinson and Colin May too wins at the penultimate round of the popular Batley Buggy Club winter series at Chadderton.

The meeting was fully booked with over 140 entrants and many more on the reserve list. This year the series has really taken off which is great credit to Batley Buggy Club for laying out some superb tracks and well run meetings.
The track this weekend was a mixture of carpet, jumps, bumps and the usual cork flooring. There were many technical parts to the track with a number of areas which could easily catch out even the most talented drivers. After practice and seeing the number of cars on their lid it was clear the fastest person would be the one with the least mistakes!
At this event both 2wd and 4wd are run on the same day, with 2wd first followed by 4wd. Four rounds of qualifying with your best two combined results would determine your overall qualifying position.

2wd Qualifying
The first round of 2wd saw Team Durango driver Craig Collinson put in the quickest time of the day with his DEX210. Even though Craig made a number of driver errors his car looked to be dialled right from the off.
The 2nd round of qualifying Craig again made a number of errors allowing local hero Stephen Lawson to take the TQ spot followed by Andrew Jones. Inbetween crashes you could see how quick Craig’s DEX210 was,  providing he could put in a clean run he would be hard to catch.
Round 3 Craig and managed to hold it together for the full 5 minutes with no mistakes, putting his car first in round and with a new fastest time!
The final round of qualifying Craig’s car looked to be going from strength to strength as he lead from start to finish giving him and his DEX210 another 1st and the overall TQ spot. Craig was followed by a hard charging Andrew Jones in 2nd and Stephen Lawson in 3rd.

4wd Qualifying
4wd qualifying was  dominated by Team Durango with Craig taking 3 out of the 4 rounds, again putting in the overall fastest time. There were some close battles during each round but consistency and error free runs proved vital in order to put in a good round score. Durango driver Colin May was really fast all day but couldn’t quite string together a clean race. Richard Lowe was in the 2nd top heat so had to battle his way through traffic but looked hot on the pace using the new dBoots  Nanobyte A compound tyre. The top three after qualifying were Craig, Richard and Colin May.
Finals:
2wd

The 2wd final was a little boring to watch from a race point of view, but excellent to watch how good Craig’s DEX210 looked on the track, as he simply left the field for dead. His car had been looking better and better all day resulting in Craig taking a comfortable win over Andrew Jones in 2nd. Another great result for Durango and the DEX210!

4wd
The 4wd final was the complete opposite of 2wd as a catalogue of errors from various drivers made for some interesting racing. Craig lead them off into the first corner with Richard Lowe a close 2nd. Richard made a big mistake on the tabletop dropping him down to 5th or 6th position. This gave Craig some breathing space but after a couple of laps the tabletop also proved costly as Craig rolled his car which needed to be marshalled. This allowed Durango driver Colin May who had been looking super fast all day to take up the lead. Colin didn’t really look back after that putting in his first clean run of the day where it counted and taking his DEX410 across the finish line for the win! Craig fought his way through the field back up to 2nd position giving Durango a 1-2 finish!
