CML Distribution Race Report:

With some of the UK’s top drivers in the 100 strong field it was going to be a very busy day. Practice saw some drivers struggle with the new layout, Cragg and Crompton showing how it was done both being 4 seconds per lap quicker than the rest of the field. Round one got underway with some excellent racing throughout the field. TQ went to Dave Crompton with his AE RC8.2 Fastrax enduro package, Graham Alsop took his Hot Bodies D8 Bullitt package to the 2 spot, 3rd going to the HongNor Bullitt powered Stuart Mahon. Round 2 saw Neil Cragg take his AE RC8.2 LRP power to TQ, 2nd this time going to Stuart Mahon and the 3 spot going to Graham Alsop. The third and final round of qualifying got underway with the sun still shining making the track very dusty off line, TQ went to Dave Crompton, 2nd this time going to Cragg with Alsop taking 3rd. The Final layout was sorted with 11 per final and 4 bump ups.
The A final lined up as follows:

The lower finals were showing some great racing the 2 stand out competitors being Phil Turner and Shaun Reeve bumping trough 5 finals from G to C finals, excellent work!

The Main Event lined up along the main straight. The flag dropped and it was an instant flame out for Cragg dropped him straight out of contention, while the rest of the field seemed to get away pretty cleanly considering the slippery conditions. The new tight section proved to be difficult with many of the runners having issues getting tangled up with each other or getting involved in others accidents, all this giving Crompton the chance to break clear of the field. Holmes and Taylor were showing the spectators how to race closely until Taylor managed to make the pass stick through the tricky new chicane. As we got to the first pit stops Mahon had worked his way through the field to 3rd and was pushing Taylor around the track when a Flame out in the pits put pain to his podium chances. The top 3 were now Crompton out front Taylor 2nd with Colin Brennan up from 10th to 3rd. Alsop after a shocking start had now made his way to 4th putting the X-Ray of Brennan under some serious pressure only to have a very rare mechanical issue putting him out the race.

The finishing positions were:

I’d also like to say a big thank you to all who helped me with the setting up and running of my first meeting as organizer. Neil Burdess, Glynn Morgan, Dave Crompton< Gav Uttley and the rest of the team from PDMCC.
