Good Morning Race Fans, Day three of the 2012 IFMAR 1/8 Fuel Buggy Worlds in Buenos Aires Argentina is upon us, as does the weather. There have been major talks about what the pending weather will bring the race and today looks to be the calm before the storm. Judging from the current weather reports today looks to have a 20% chance of rain with cloudy weather slated for the entire day. What everyone is worried about is tomorrows weather, 80% chance of rain with the potential of 2”-6” of rain. The last time the weather report said 2”-6” of rain we saw photos of a track that looked to be reminiscent of a R/C boat pond with little islands scattered about.
On the racing side of things, both Ryan Lutz and Elliot Boots went toe to toe for the fastest lap of the day. In the end, Elliot flexed his British muscle edging out Lutz for the fastest lap of the day. The intriguing part of all of this, they were both running AKA’s newest tire, The Moto, which many drivers laughed at, calling it a “play tire”. Let’s not forget the Pro-Line Knuckles that won the 2004 IFMAR 1/8 Fuel Buggy Worlds that looked like a “play tire”. From wide-angle photos this track looks fairly smooth, but when you get down to the fine detail you’ll find this isn’t the case. When in fact, it’s a very rough track and it’s only going to get rougher. Maybe a big knob moto-esk tire will prevail over the smaller pin RC type tire, then again, the weather could help set the reset button on everyone making it a true wild card event.
