Inside sources close to the situation have suggested that Traxxas will acquire HPI Racing - or at least HPI Europe.
The financial situation of HPI's European offices have not been a closely guarded secret over the last couple of months, with the company entering "administration" for its debts. Initial reports are that Traxxas would acquire the HPI Europe brand but that HB (formerly Hot Bodies) may not included in the deal.
This isn't the first time that Traxxas and HPI have met in a boardroom - in October 2014, Traxxas brought a lawsuit against HPI for infringing on a copyright protecting the design of a receiver box used on several models, rumored to be in the range of $2M. The lawsuit is still outstanding, and such a merger would certainly make that go away.
While the information we received came from credible sources, this development is still in the "rumor" stage - though it may move quickly. As more information becomes available, it will be shared here.
